No, Eichi. Thank you for allowing it. For coming to me when I called with my whole heart.
[Sexting is totally heartfelt, he promises. And he'll do it forever, now. He puts a gentle arm around Eichi, bringing him closer still, and kisses his forehead before snuggling down into the pillows beside him.]
I've wanted to sleep beside you. To feel your warmth. You breath, soft on my skin. An arm around me. Now... go to sleep, Eichi. I'll watch over you until you're soundly cradled in slumber.
[Eichi says it, but he's already breathing comfortably, and before long, he drifts off. It would be the most comfortable night if not for some strange dreams that he can hardly remember. About him, about Wataru... Is it because they're sleeping close?
He dreams of Wataru always out of reach. A stream of time keeping them apart, forcing them to try again, and again... He dreams of himself getting close so many times, but his body collapsing before he has the chance to manage it. They're all like this. Upsetting, bitter more than sweet, causing him to stir in his sleep and softly murmur, and at one point, close to the time he's meant to wake, he clutches tighter at Wataru without even realizing it, breath sucking in deep, terrified.]
[Eichi drifts off, and Wataru presses the softest kiss to Eichi's nose, before allowing himself to sleep, his lover cradled in his arms, their bodies warm together.
Wataru's dreams, by turns, are happy and sad. He finds Eichi in a crowd, or in an unexpected place, and the reunion is joyous... Then something happens and Wataru finds himself ripped away, to the point where Eichi gripping him in his sleep startles him awake. He steadies his breathing, panicked, shallow sleep not enough to give him rest. Someday he'll be accustomed to someone sleeping beside him, but not today.
Eichi is practically shaking, and Wataru pulls him close.]
Shh, my prince. There there. Your knight is here, no, your beloved jester... I'll chase away all the bad things with smiles.
[He breathes it out at the words of comfort, stirring awake from them. His nightmares had jolted him enough, but he wraps his arms more completely, pulls himself close, still shaking even as he tries to stop.]
I thought you had been taken again. [A thought that fills him with dread... He's not reassured, now that they're awake, even if Wataru's words are nice. He needs to think about how he can protect Wataru. What he can do to keep him from harm.] That I was unable to reach you, no matter what I did...
Eichi... I'll never leave your side. I won't let death take me, nor distance, nor anyone in the world. This is our life, together, and I'll see it through.
[He holds him tight, rocking a bit in what he hopes is a playfully comforting manner.]
I've decided to become immortal for you. Nothing will steal me away!
[Eichi moves a hand to Wataru's hair, his chest aching as he draws his fingers through it. Wataru was already damaged like this... Eichi is still bothered.]
But for those who try... for everything that attempts to keep us apart... I won't settle with simply preventing them. I'd like to chase them from this very world, personally. You understand, don't you? The idea that there are those out there who hurt you, who may hurt you again... it fills me with such rage that I can't handle it.
I'm afraid. What a dangerous path we've been thrown on, against our will. It isn't fair... I only want to live peacefully with you.
[Wataru knows the state of his hair bothers Eichi... He's been thinking about having extensions put in to ease some of that, just because hiding it doesn't always work. It's growing out rather quickly, but still... it'll take time.]
We'll chase them off together. You don't have to protect me, Eichi! I'm here to protect you, after all. We're a team, a unit, a pair, two people who need and want each other so desperately that the red thread between us is more like a steel cable.
[He laughs softly.]
I'd like to live peacefully with you, too. I'd like to sail the seas with you, tour the world. Climb mountains and walk barefoot on beaches. But we have little choice. The world hunts us and haunts us in every lifetime, doesn't it?
I'm resigned to it, in a way. Knowing that every moment I spend with you has to be more precious than the last, simply because I never know when we'll be torn apart...
[A sigh, and he nuzzles Eichi's nose.]
But maybe this time it won't be so. We may have to weather this and that, but we'll be granted a whole lifetime together.
[He stands from the bed, grabbing his pajamas and slipping his arms through the sleeves of his top first. He ducks in as he buttons it, kissing Wataru slowly.]
And after that? [His voice is low and drawn out, and as he pulls back again to grab his pants, he smiles brighter.] I'll arrange a trick to rid you of this room and place you closer to mine. It will be much easier to meet up again, after that.
[Wataru looks down at himself shyly, as if it's sinking in suddenly that, yes, they did that. But then there's a kiss, and it chases all the uncertainty away, his hands resting delicate fingertips on Eichi's wrists.]
I'd like that. I'd like to sleep next to you every night, if it's possible! I've never known happiness like being beside you...
[...Sweet. He wonders, briefly, if being in Wataru's hands like this means that he'll lose his shine to him. If he might lose Wataru's interest over time... But he won't worry about that. He'll keep working to keep his interest, no matter what. He'll shine as brightly as possible, at all times.
Pants on now, he squeezes Wataru's hands and forces himself to step back and let his grip slip away completely.]
In a couple short hours, I'll see you again... my beautiful partner. From now on, let's sleep side by side for a majority of the night and then escape before the sun rises. Like two distance stars coming to meet again and again...
[He smiles, and even in the dark it's shining. He waves cutely, reaching behind himself with the other hand to unlock and slip out of the door without ever turning around.]
[Maybe Wataru will lose his shine in Eichi's eyes, if he's suddenly so close, so attainable, when Eichi's always thought or acted otherwise. But Eichi will never lose his shine in Wataru's eyes. He'll value and cherish him in every way, whether Eichi's light is bright or dim at the time.
His hands hover in the air a bit, and the ends of his hair seem to droop from where they were sleep-mussed and wild. Eichi's leaving... Eichi...
Eichi's leaving, but with beautiful words, a promise, and all Wataru can do is nod because where Wataru is usually the whirlwind, Eichi is that this morning. He wants to scream at the top of his lungs, yes, yes! But off the blonde goes, and Wataru finally lets his hands dumbly wave back, a goodbye to the nothingness that remains in Eichi's absence.
He feels cold now, incomplete, but they're lovers... Yes, that's what they've become! They've held each other so close he can't bear being apart. Minutes pass, Wataru's violet eyes fixed on the door, then a knock comes. One of the servants to rouse him. He's so glad they don't bother him much, that they don't open the door, because he's still naked, and still staring blankly ahead at the space Eichi occupied until moments ago.]
Yes, good morning~☆! I'll be out shortly!
[Cheerful, but with a feigned touch of sleepiness to make it seem as though he's only just awakened. And then he slides out of bed to dress and make his way to breakfast.]
[Breakfast comes and goes easily. It's endearing, watching Wataru glowing as he is from across the table, and it takes every bit of will power not to close any distance here in front of the servants. He eats, sips his tea, and talks about their plans for the day. Rehearsal.
It means they'll have a space to themselves, and hopefully the focus on their performance is going to keep their hands off of each other, but he's already thinking about tonight.]
Take your time if you still have anything to finish, Wataru. I'm done, myself, but I won't leave until you're ready.
[It's obvious that Wataru's world has shifted. He does practically glow, his eyes bright, his steps light, a song on his lips. He fairly danced into the room! But that's not so abnormal for him that the servants make any comment on it, or even notice. They tolerate him, and that's about the extent of it.
Eichi, though! Eichi adores him, and Wataru kicks his feet a bit beneath the table as he's addressed. Reaching for the last strawberry remaining from his French toast, he grins.]
I'm ready now! Our show is mere days away! We can't possibly think of dawdling here, right?
Fufu... That's right. We need to perfect what we can. It's difficult for someone with health like mine to do much in the days leading up to it, but I can't let it go untouched, either.
I want to be perfectly in sync with you, Wataru.
[He stands up from his chair, and the servants move in to begin clearing up immediately. They don't give Wataru the same courtesy of waiting. Eichi doesn't notice or care, since Wataru's said he's done, and waits for him to join him at his side before he walks.]
I've asked not to be interrupted, so we can practice as we see fit. I have some ideas for how we should begin, but I'm curious to hear yours, as well... What do you think? Is there anything we should add, or edit?
[Wataru doesn't notice how quickly and rudely the servants swoop in. He's too focused on being alone with Eichi again, on reviewing what happened, on planning more, on--oh, they need to rehearse.
He walks backwards through the hallway on tiptoe, never taking his eyes off Eichi.]
We'll take it easy for the next few days, won't we? Your health has to be perfect! Eichi has to be in tip-top shape, or we won't finish the lengthy set. But I do have one small, small suggestion...
[It's incredible, watching him like this. Like their dark days have past, like there's nothing to worry about. They'll take on the stage together and surprise the whole school. They'll create a statement, they'll change things for the better, this time... It won't be fine. It will be better.
He's also just amazed that Wataru can navigate like this. As expected of him...]
Oh? I want to hear it, so don't hold it back any longer. What's your suggestion, Wataru?
[All the darkness, all the suffering they weathered... Wataru can forget it now. He can forget the way his hair is cut and the way he wonders if all the nightmares will ever go away. He can focus on Eichi.]
It's a risky proposition. Idols shouldn't date, you know. And especially not school-aged idols, who should be focusing on their careers! But, Eichi... what if we kissed?
[He titters a bit, and clasps his hands in front of his chest as he turns a circle while still making forward (backward?) progress.]
A stage kiss, a stage kiss! We can make it look as real as we like, tease the outcome but never show the payoff. We can create something new, something only we can provide.
[Eichi looks genuinely surprised as they walk, slowing his steps just slightly, but still managing to keep up. The doors to the large ballroom that's been cleared out for their practicing are just ahead, but Eichi's eyes are on Wataru, equal parts concerned and interested.]
That's an extremely bold move. For two who were on opposite sides to not just join a unit completely different in theme, but to share something so intimate on stage at the first performance...? Ah...
It could be just what we need to snap life and energy into the people. However... it's risky. You could end up hated even more than now. [He brings his hand to his chin, humming.] Though, considering what we're doing... it would likely be temporary. Such a bold statement might actually repair things, over time...
Think of it! If we always tease the kiss, but never let our lips meet, we'll cause a stir. A sensation! We'll be those forbidden two, sides that exist only together, but never meet, light and darkness, male and female, the ebb and flow of life itself.
[Like. Also he just wants to kiss Eichi on the lips in rehearsal, sure, but. There's honestly a bigger plan and purpose here, and he's unveiling it layer by layer, letting Eichi catch on to each little thread. It's more fun that way, so he feels like he figured it out himself. Wataru does love those eureka moments from him already.
They haven't been together long, he knows, they've hardly been a unit any longer than they were kidnapping victims, he often feels, but... The distance and time they've crossed, the way they've gone from mortal enemies to lovers! It's a tale worth telling.]
For now, we look dangerous and sensual. We stir up controversy and keep people talking. But later, when the time is right... It's not like I mind being hated! I never really wanted to die, even when things were at their worst. What's a few more cast stones?
[He says that firmly enough, eyes flicking past Wataru briefly and at the doors to the ballroom, then back. Shamelessly, he just wants to be able to kiss Wataru, too. They could, each time the curtain falls, if it's placed at the end... He likes that.]
But I want to make this work, as well. I believe it's possible. I'm currently at the top of the school. So long as we perform beautifully, it will cause a rush, excitement. Even if the image is of the two of us meeting in this way, it will seem as though you've been purified, if we manage it correctly.
So let's practice well. I believe we've managed to read each other well enough that we can improvise on the first run, don't you think?

[He cuddles in close, forgetting about anything else. He can shower in the morning. Right now, this is precious time with Wataru.]
